- Trans Halakha Project:
- Over the past decade the Jewish community has been blessed with the increased visibility of trans, intersex, non-binary, and gender non-conforming folks in our communities. The unique lives, bodies, and experiences of this growing subset of our community demands a new halakha (pathways and practices of Jewish expression). The Trans Halakha Project, housed at SVARA: A Traditionally Radical Yeshiva, aims to curate existing resources that have been developed for trans Jews and by trans Jews, identify new areas of halakha that have yet to be developed, and finally to create opportunities for developing new halakhic literature and practice guides that speak directly to these areas of need.

- Sunday, April 11 is Good Deeds Day: In the Federation spirit of caring for our community, join Nuroots and the Jewish Federatino of LA as they participate in this year’s Good Deeds Day on Sunday, April 11th — an annual global day of service that all started in Israel with the simple idea that even the smallest of positive actions empowers each of us to change the world for the better. The group will gather on Zoom with Repair the World and Federation partner organizations to learn about the at-risk populations they serve and create various kits to help our homeless neighbors with necessities, welcome home those transitioning to housing, and provide comfort through cards of encouragement for those suffering from isolation.

- WellFed from NuRoots is back: The COVID-19 crisis continues to tighten budgets and has forced many — Jewish young adults in particular — to live without reliable access to enough affordable, nutritious food. Many of our community members are facing challenges caused by the pandemic, and hunger and food insecurity are among them. In response, the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles is making more $250 gift cards immediately available to redeem at grocery stores through our program, WellFed. If you’re a Jewish young adult between the ages of 18 and 40, live in the Greater L.A. area, and are experiencing any kind of food insecurity, this resource is for you.

- Emergency Rental Assistance Program: The City of Los Angeles, in partnership with the State of California and the federal government, has created the 2021 COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) to assist residential renters who have been unable to pay their rent as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.Both landlords and low-income renters living in the City of Los Angeles may apply, regardless of immigration status. Applications will be available in multiple languages at hcidla.lacity.org through April. There will also be phone support available in multiple languages, and TTY for persons with hearing or speech impairments. The phone number is (833) 373 -0587.
